Passionate foodie Tim Bone has spoken about putting plans to start a family on hold to chase his MasterChef dream.
Bone, 33, and wife Abbey dearly want to be parents, but the Ballarat couple agreed to put those plans to one side to allow Bone to pursue his culinary calling.
“We have been trying to have a baby since we were married two-and-a-half years ago and it has not been working for us,” Bone said.
“We had a miscarriage going back 18 months and that was pretty heartbreaking, so to do something like MasterChef where you are away from each other for what is nearly up to nine months, with the audition process and everything, it was a hard decision to make.
“When it was looking like I might get in we did sit down and I was worried because I know how important it is to us to have a baby and I said; ‘Can I do this, is it going to be worth for us in the long run?’
“I am just so thankful to have such a beautiful and supportive wife in Abbey who let me follow my dreams.”
After being eliminated from the show last month, the integration aide was thrown a lifeline and welcomed back into the MasterChef fold by the judges.
He is now cooking for glory, having made to the final fortnight of the show.

Bone hopes to launch a gourmet toastie food truck after MasterChef.
“My toastie food truck dream will happen, no matter what,” he said.
“George (Calombaris) has offered to lend me his food truck. It is a humble way to start but I am happy with that.”
