The name of legendary Melbourne nightclub king Darren ‘Razzle’ Thornburgh will live on with his daughter expecting her first child.
Zoe Thornburgh, Thornburgh’s eldest daughter, has shared with friends her delight at being pregnant with a boy. She is due to give birth in January.
Thornburgh famously founded and ran Boutique nightclub in Prahran, a venue which defined Melbourne night-life and celebrity culture for more than a decade.
The likes of Paris and Nicky Hilton, Kim Kardashian and Kimberly Stewart partied at the South Yarra venue and local stars and footballers flocked to the club.
Tragically Thornburgh was found dead on the front porch of his rural property near Barmah in November 2017 after battling personal and financial issues.
Zoe said her pregnancy was bringing life, love and tremendous joy to her family after a dark period.
“It is interesting how things happen. My dad always wanted a son and I am having a boy and the due date is one or two days before dad’s birthday,” Zoe said.
“When I told his best friend he burst into tears. He (Darren) loved us, his girls, but he wanted a boy so badly.
“Things like the Thornburgh name was going to die and now because I am going to be a single mum my son will carry on the family name.
“I feel like it was all meant to happen.
“My dad was my go to. He meant the world to me. I feel very spiritually connected to him through this.”
Melbourne-based Thornburgh said while she had suffered awful morning sickness, including a stint in hospital, during the first trimester of her pregnancy, she was now feeling much stronger.
