Hollywood star Margot Robbie has not forgotten her humble start on Ramsay Street, sending champagne to the cast and crew as production wrapped on Neighbours for the final time after 37 years on Friday.
She might not have been part of the final chapter of the Aussie super soap, but Robbie was on set at Nunawading in spirit with a gift of pricey bubbles arriving on Friday afternoon so the Neighbours team could toast the show as the curtain drew to a close on its remarkable era.
The show’s executive producer Jason Herbison told the cast and crew of Robbie’s gift and good wishes as they raised a toast following the end of filming on the soap’s final ever day of production.
April Rose Pengilly, Emerald Chan and Freya Van Dyke were among the cast to thank Robbie via social media for the thoughtful gift.
Robbie, who is one of the biggest names in Hollywood these days as an actor and producer, got her big break on Neighbours playing Donna Freedman. She was part of the show from 2008-2011 before heading the US to pursue a film career.
While Robbie was unable to be part of the final chapter of Neighbours, the show still clearly holds fond memories for her as it comes to the end of its run.
The final episode of Neighbours will air on 10 Peach on August 1, 2022.
