Miss Universe Australia Priya Serrao is in Atlanta preparing to fly the flag for her country in the pageant Olympics.
Serrao left Melbourne on Thursday and will compete in the international Miss Universe final on December 8.
It has been an extraordinary few months for Serrao who works in the public policy space and had never modelled before entering the Miss Universe competition.
Serrao said she did not see any problems combining her growing public profile as a pageant winner with her day job.
“Lots of people are multi dimensional. I love that I get to have two very different roles that offer very different experiences. It is the best of both worlds in a way,” she said.
Serrao said she had been working on her walk before leaving for Atlanta.
“Miss Universe is a performance at the end of the day, it is entertainment, and so I have been focusing on my walk and being about to adopt a certain attitude and persona when I am on stage,” she said.
“I am me, but a bigger, sassier, better version of me up there and hopefully I can showcase that more dramatic side of me for the judges.”
