Former AFL star Brendan Fevola has been embroiled in a MAFS kissing scandal with outrageous bride Hayley Vernon and her sneaky pash, Michael Goonan.
He has also been blamed for causing a social media stoush between Vernon and fellow MAFS “bride” Stacey Hampton.
A contrite Fevola has admitted that he was the author of a note, that he initially claimed was penned by Goonan, which stated Goonan had cheated on his Married At First Sight TV wife Hampton with more than one of his reality castmates.
Vernon and Goonan had sneakily kissed on the show behind the back of Hampton while they were all still, supposedly, happily “married” on the hit Channel 9 series.
The controversial note read: “Hayley, you’re not the only one I kissed! Plenty more secrets” and was signed off with the initial M.
The former Carlton goal kicking machine gave the note to Vernon when she appeared on his Fox FM Breakfast show, telling her Goonan had left it for her when he was on the show earlier that week.
But he hadn’t left it for her.
And he had not written it.
Fevola admitted he had created the inflammatory scrawl thinking it was a harmless prank, not realising that Vernon was going to take it seriously and it would set off fireworks between herself and Hampton.
“Fev, I’m going to absolutely kill you, you little s---,” Vernon said on Friday.
“We’re (she and Hampton) in this full-blown war because of you.”
Fevola apologised for the prank on his Fox FM show on Friday confessing he had no idea the joke would get so wildly out of control.
“I am sorry Hayley, I am sorry for getting you in trouble,” he said before explaining how the note had come to be.
Fevola had asked Goonan to write a letter to Vernon when he appeared on the Fifi, Fev and Byron show, but he said no.
“I said, “why don’t we write a note from him and say that he did write that and we’ll give it to Hayley and it will just be like a little bit of a joke,” Fevola said.
“And we did.
‘We didn’t know that Hayley would send it to everyone on Instagram.”
Fevola said while it was his idea he claimed his producer Leon Sjogren actually wrote it.
“I told him what to write, but I never wrote it,” he said.
