Gary, Matt and George — the original MasterChef Australia stars — are back in front of the camera and have filmed a new TV show.
The three musketeers of MasterChef have joined forces once again, with their TV charm set to be enjoyed by foodie fans in India.
Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston have not worked together on screen as a trio since they departed MasterChef Australia in 2019.
“It is nice to have the gang back together,” Calombaris said
The trio fronted the hit Channel 10 cooking show for 11 seasons before their shock departure linked to stalled contract negotiations and around the same time that Calombaris was dealing with a wage underpayment scandal.
During their MasterChef Australia years Mehigan, Calombaris and Preston developed a huge fan base in India and that audience is still engaged with the trio.
When their final episode of MasterChef aired in India huge billboards appeared in the city thanking them and wishing them well.
The trio did a three city tour of India hosting dinners and masterclasses for the culinary brand Conosh late last year which was an immediate sell out.
They have filmed two episodes of Conosh’s TV series Ultimate Homechef of India.
Other opportunities are also believed to be on the boil.
“George, Matt and Gary have worked closely with Conosh for the past year or two and recently filmed two short format episodes for National Geographic India for the final of Conosh’s home chef competition,” Mehigan’s manager Justine May said.
“They will be returning to India again in August to host a series of dinners and masterclasses.
“The love for them remains as strong as ever in the international market.
“They treasure the opportunity to get back together and do projects with each other.”
Calombaris, Mehigan and Preston are working together again today (Sunday) at a lunch at Hotel Sorrento.
The ‘Friends of George’ lunch is raising funds for bowel cancer research in honour of Calombaris’s father Jim.
