How former Melbourne prison officer Isabelle Deltore Australia’s best porn star

After twice winning Miss Nude World, a former Melbourne prison officer with a passion for ferrets has won the porn industry’s top gong.

A former Melbourne prison officer who is a self-confessed sci-fi nerd with a passion for ferrets has been named best porn actress at the Australian adult entertainment industry’s equivalent to the Logie Awards.

Isabelle Deltore was among the big winners at the glittering black-tie Australian Adult Industry Awards which were held at the 5-Star Hyatt Regency in Sydney on Thursday, with Melburnians dominating in key categories.

The cream of the country’s adult performers and operators gathered to see the large diamond-shaped crystal trophies handed out for categories including adult entertainment venue, adult online store and adult retail store.

Other awards included best female and best male escort, best pageant and best MILF. Some further categories awarded on the night are best left to the imagination.

Melbourne-based Deltore, 39, who has twice been crowned Miss Nude World and is a previous winner of Australian porn star of the year title, said she was a businesswoman and entertainer.

“I first started about 11 years ago. I was actually a prison officer at a maximum security facility in Melbourne,” she said.

“I decided I did not want to pursue that career anymore for various reasons. It would have taken me quite a long application period to get into another government job so I decided to be a secret stripper on the side to still earn some money while I reassessed what direction I wanted to go in my career.

“I made in one night what I would make in two weeks working at the maximum security facility and I sent them an email at 4am saying, ‘See you later, bye’.

She eventually graduated to adult film work, 90 per cent of which is filmed overseas, and also has her own platform and OnlyFans account.

“I choose who I like to work with and not work with,” she said.

“We have no lists, a no list is a performer that we chose not to work with for whatever our reason is, we don’t have to disclose it, and I set the boundaries.

“I have had a situation where I was asked to film a certain thing (while on set) and I said, ‘No. I am not a pretzel, this is physically impossible,’ and gave them 15 seconds to change their plans.”

Deltore said she was no different than any other sole trader.

“I pay my taxes, I pay an exorbitant amount of tax, I buy properties like other people, it is very normal,” she said of her career.

“I have a very steady income. It is no different to any other sole trader or company out there operating.”

Deltore, her professional name, said the awards night helped to demystify and unify the adult industry.

Victoria may well have lost the Logie Awards to Queensland, but that gap could be filled by the Adult Industry Awards. Organisers are keen to hold the awards in Melbourne next year.
