Former co-host of The Project Gorgi Coghlan has made a surprise return to TV.
Coghlan appears in the made-in-Melbourne Netflix smash Apple Cider Vinegar, the drama inspired by the life of cancer conwoman Belle Gibson, playing a television host alongside.
“Being involved with something as incredible as a Netflix production in Australia was next level,” Coghlan said.
“We were playing characters that were very similar to our real life roles. We played hosts of a TV morning show called G’Day Today and we had an absolute hoot.”
For Coghlan the opportunity was timely given she is tapping into her love of the arts, having started her career as a musical theatre performer.
“I have gone back to drama school,” she said.
“I am at drama school twice a week in Melbourne and I am absolutely loving it. I feel like I have come home and am really embracing that. I would love to do a lot more performing and acting. It has just opened up my heart and I can’t wait to see where that will lead me.”
Coghlan and Anna-Lee Robertson – the pair share a 37 year friendship – are performing at Bird’s Basement in the Melbourne CBD on Saturday, March 1.
The besties are celebrating friendship, laughter, and resilience through timeless classics by Bernstein, Irving Berlin, Paul Simon, Cole Porter, Puccini, and Adele.
“We do have plans and we want to take this show all over Australia,” Coghlan said.
“It is wonderful to be singing again and singing with your bestie.”
As if she is not busy enough, Coghlan is also renovating the Buninyong Hotel, the oldest operating pub licence in Victoria, with her husband, Simon.
