A new look Hey Hey It’s Saturday is potentially in the works.
The show’s creator, Daryl Somers, is being encouraged by fans to find a way to take the show on the road.
While it is very early days, Somers is toying with the idea of a Hey Hey tour that would showcase the archive of clips and celebrity moments from the 28 years of the show.
One concept that could work would be something similar to “a night with”, featuring Somers on stage presenting famous, rare and nostalgic clips from the long-running show.
That style of presentation could allow former show regulars to be invited to join Somers and share their memories of the heady days of Hey Hey.
Somers confirmed that fans had expressed interest in seeing a Hey Hey tour.
“In essence, after 12 years of digitising the old analogue tapes of Hey Hey we have an enormous archive of precious memories and most importantly fun,” Somers said.
“We have been sharing some highlights on Heyhey.tv and our Facebook page which has amassed over 600,000 followers, and growing, so there’s been suggestions that I should tour with the archive.
“It’s very early days, but it’s not out of the question.”
Somers was one of the stars who spoke at the celebration of the life of comedy writer Mike McColl Jones in Richmond last month.
