Channel 7’s golden voice of AFL, James Brayshaw won’t be the only celebrated former host missing from the 30th anniversary special of the beloved TV institution, The Footy Show.

Rebecca Maddern, who co-hosted the show between 2016 and 2018, is not involved with the nostalgic special either.

Both Brayshaw and Maddern are high profile hosts on Seven.

The special — actually two specials as there is also a best of show looking back over the years of the Footy Show Grand Final Spectacular — will be seen on Channel 9.

“I am not included in that,” Maddern said.

“I am at another network now. I am sure it will be great.”

The special will feature a host of favourites from the long-running show including Eddie McGuire, Sam Newman, Garry Lyon, Craig Hutchison, Damian Barrett and Jonathan Brown.

Meanwhile, Maddern will be back in the thick of footy action, co-hosting the Brownlow Medal live broadcast on Monday, September 25, for Seven alongside Hamish McLachlan.

“I am thrilled to be hosting alongside Hamish again,” Maddern said.

She and McLachlan hosted the event together last year.

“It is a huge night. You have two things happening at once and that is why it is such a big evening.

“You are there to talk to the crowd, over 1000 people in the Palladium at Crown, and it is also a television event, so you are working to two audiences.

“I have done a lot of television and a lot of MC work, but the Brownlow is probably the biggest event where those two things combine.

“It is going to be a wonderful night and celebration of a great season of football.”
