Margot Robbie’s model brother Cameron has made an eye-catching debut on Australia’s super soap Neighbours as a hot, sweaty, shirtless, beach beefcake with a board.
The long-running drama seems to have decided sex still sells in soap-land in 2021 and Robbie is going to add some sizzle to the show.
In fact he looks like he got lost on his way to a remake of Baywatch in his first episode.
In one of the more memorable launch scenes for a character, a shirtless Robbie jogs in slow motion past Ramsay Street’s pop-up beach bar with a surfboard under his arm, wearing a pair of aviator sunnies, red board shorts and flashing a smile at Colette Mann’s approving cougar-like character.
There are a lot of ‘90s Baywatch vibes – a time of TV eye candy and pin-ups – going on.
Robbie is playing a lifesaver by the name of Jesse Porter although just where he is going to find surf in the mythical suburb of Erinsborough is going to be interesting.
Robbie, 25, is based in Melbourne and is following in his Oscar-nominated sister’s footsteps by joining Neighbours.
He started filming his guest role with Neighbours late last year and his on screen debut comes 10 years after Margot, now 30, departed Ramsay Street for Hollywood.
Margot was seen on the show as Donna Freedman from 2008 to 2011.
Robbie said his sister had given him some simple advice: “work hard.”
“Margot, like many of my industry friends or go-to professionals say a similar thing of work hard, train hard, be kind and grateful, and enjoy the experience,” he said.
“But it’s always comforting to know that if I ever need her she’s only a phone call away.
“There’s definitely a strong ‘want’ to do well with my work and grow with my abilities.
“But no I don’t place pressure on myself regarding her success, only my own expectation that I work hard, pursue what I love and make it meaningful. Acting has always been my priority.”
