Triple M’s rugged voice of footy Brian “BT” Taylor has gone off the grid.
The outspoken AFL commentator, and newly minted Channel 7 lifestyle presenter, has taken a seemingly New Age turn.
Taylor has bought an eco-friendly home on the Victorian coast — not connected to the traditional electricity grid and fully solar power. The new abode has taken some getting use to.
BT’S AWKWARD JAPANESE DINING EXPERIENCE
“We are already running out of electricity because we are guzzlers,” Taylor said.
“We are totally off the grid, not connected at all. It is our first try at such a thing.
“It has taken a bit of getting use to because I like guzzling power with all sorts of technical pieces.
“We are going to update the system so we get a bit more power.”
Taylor’s move into the lifestyle TV realm on Seven, while also being part of the network’s footy coverage, with the programs The Great Weekend and Mates on a Mission has seen him branded “warm Brian” and the “Mimosa Moustache” by Craig Hutchison and Damian Barrett on their Sounding Board podcast.
Taylor was quick to share his thoughts on the labels: “There is no warming up. Damian Barrett has his head up his a---. I am normal and I am the same Brian that I was last year.”
He is not the only one with a new moniker. Taylor’s Triple M and 7 stablemate Luke Darcy is tagged “Feng Shui Darc” on the podcast.
