Reality star and real estate agent Danny Hayes has claimed he is “rotting away” in a Sydney hotel room and is stuck in “no man’s land’ as he tries to get a permit to return to Victoria after filming Big Brother VIP.
A frustrated Hayes has made an emotional plea to return to his Geelong home on mental health grounds.
Hayes, along with former Collingwood star Dayne Beams, is languishing in Sydney after filming the Channel 7 celebrity show with the likes of Caitlyn Jenner and Thomas Markle Jr as Victorian border restrictions have tightened.
Hayes said he had been trying for almost two weeks to get permission to return to Victoria and a Sydney doctor was so concerned about his mental state that last week he sent him to the emergency department at NSW’s St Vincent’s hospital.
“Two independent psychology reports stating that I should immediately return to Vic due to mental health reasons, a trip to the local GP where I got put back on antidepressants after being off them for 18 months, … that Dr referred me to the A&E dept St Vincent’s mental health team,” Hayes posted on Instagram.
“I came to Sydney on a legitimate work permit 25 days ago. Why cannot I return home?” he said.
“I sit in this hotel room rotting away!! Can some one explain what the f— I have to do to get out of no mans land? I wanna go home to Geelong!!”
A spokesperson for Big Brother VIP producer Endemol Shine said: “We are doing … everything we can within the Victorian system to get Danny and Dayne back to home to their families. We are offering Danny and Dayne all the support we can.”
