The two years of Covid lockdown has inspired Melbourne model Annalise Dalins to reach for the skies.
Keen to “push” herself, Dalins is taking part in Miss Universe Australia and will vie for a place in the National Final when she competes in the Victorian Final on May 29.
“Being isolated for so long with the Covid lockdowns I thought what better opportunity to meet like-minded women who are all passionate about an individual or personal world issue that really affects them and that they want to bring awareness to,” Dalins said.
“After our long lockdown I really wanted to push myself outside of my comfort zone.”
Dalins, 21, who has been modelling for four years with Giant Models, said she had already been inspired by past winners Daria Varlamova and Olivia Rogers after meeting them during the Miss Universe process.
“It is a really great environment, it is very positive and everyone is very friendly,” she said.
Dalins said football commitments meant her partner, Collingwood player Josh Daicos, would not be able to attend the Victorian State Final, which has given her added incentive to make it through to the National Final. They will be held later this year.
“He is so supportive. He is really excited for me and he is very happy for me being a part of this,” she said.
