Lauren Gibbs, the wife of Adelaide Football club player, Bryce Gibbs, has shared her deep sadness after suffering a miscarriage.
Gibbs has taken to Instagram to speak about her loss, saying that sharing the experience helped her deal with the grief.
The couple have two children and were excited to be expecting a third child in early 2021.
“We were so excited at the thought of seeing these two with another sibling. I started making matching pjs for them as they were to be joined by another little one in the new year,” Gibbs wrote underneath a photo of her two children.
“Instead we will just be left with dreams of what could have been.
“It’s crazy how much you can love somebody that you have never met before.
“I know I am not alone in this and speaking about my miscarriage has certainly helped.”
She said she had been supported by friends and other women who had been through the same heartbreak.
“I have taken strength from so many strong women who have supported me by sharing their stories of similar times,” she said.
“Thank you to all my wonderful family and friends.
“Grateful for my two little ones who make my world better every single day.”
Bryce Gibbs played for Carlton for over a decade before returning to his home state of South Australia in 2018 and joining the Adelaide Crows.
