Gold Logie-winning TV host Grant Denyer — host of recently axed show Dancing With The Stars — says he has learned to live with shows being cancelled.
“It’s what happens in television,” Denyer told Confidential.
“The only gigs that are a certainty is reading the news or hosting a morning breakfast show.
“They’re the only bolted-on industry jobs; for the rest of us, shows come and go. It’s just the nature of the beast.
“Some of them are cyclical and they come back, like Family Feud. Dancing With The Stars will no doubt come back somewhere else further down the track.”
Denyer co-hosted Channel 10’s Dancing With The Stars with Amanda Keller in 2019 and 2020.
“It’s an expensive show in a tough economic climate,” Denyer said. “They’re the first belts that get tightened in times like these. I’ll miss it, but it won’t be gone forever.”
Meanwhile, Denyer and wife Chezzi, are expecting their third child in a few months.
While in lockdown, the couple created a hit podcast, It’s All True, a no-holds-barred series that delves into personal lives.
Denyer is also promoting the Philips Airfryer XXL after learning how to cook during lockdown.
“It was the first time my kids have seen Dad be of use,” Denyer joked.
“It was also the perfect way to start my cooking journey, and fix my lack of cooking skills.
“My first dish was trying to crack the Colonel’s code and make homemade KFC.
“I also learned to play the drums, play guitar and fly a plane, but none of that was of any use to my family.”
