Dane Swan opens up about coronavirus isolation with girlfriend Taylor Wilson

When it comes to coronavirus quarantine, celebs are proving they really are just like the rest of us. From domestic squabbles to hours spent on household chores, Dane Swan has revealed how his life is going under lockdown.

AFL 2020 season postponed: "I never thought it would come to this"

Former Magpies champion Dane Swan has opened up about his life in coronavirus lockdown, which has so far included a two-hour-long household chore undertaken to just pass the time.

The Brownlow Medalist also said life in self-isolation with girlfriend Taylor Wilson would probably test their relationship.

“Even if you live with your best mate, I can’t imagine being with any person for 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 weeks with no-one else. You’d end up hating the person,” Swan says on comedian Nazeem Hussain’s podcast, Survivor’s Guide To Coronavirus.

“Me and Taylor are two very different people. Taylor likes to keep busy a lot, she will start baking or cooking or cleaning. I don’t like being busy.

“We can sit down watch tele(vision) for an hour, and she will get antsy and go and do something. Me, on the other hand, I’ll do something for an hour, then sit on the couch and do nothing.”

Swan said Taylor had recently told him to do “more around the house.”

Asked if he had a robot vacuum cleaner, Swan said no, then joked: “Taylor would walk around following it making sure it’s doing a good job.”

Swan added: “I tried to mop, and I actually got stuck in a corner for two hours. I didn’t know you needed an exit strategy for a mop.

“I mopped and mopped, and I got to the point where I’d mopped everything except the corner I was in. I was stuck in the corner of the kitchen until everything dried … thinking people who mop are pretty intelligent beings.

“I thought I was doing the right thing, mopping away, then, ‘F---, I’m stuck!’”

Swan says he isn’t working out or exercising at home during lockdown.

“If I did have a treadmill, or a set of dumbbells, I’d be sitting there going, ‘There’s Cheezels in the cupboard. Bugger this.’”

Before lockdown, Swan said his preferred training method was F-45.

He hopes to “relearn” playing the piano and will keep walking the dog during the crisis.

“You can’t have your dog s----ing all over the bloody floor.”

Hussain was envious dogs still have freedom during the COVID-19 emergency to “do whatever they want” including sniffing each other’s backsides.

Swan joked: “I tried that on Friday night, and got slapped.”

Hussain’s podcast will air on ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network on Saturday.
