Samantha Armytage is considering a name change when she ties the knot with her fiancé Richard Lavender.

The Sunrise co-host, 44, is set to marry the wealthy businessman, 60, in a fairytale wedding next year and insiders say she’s open to following the age old tradition of taking his last name.

When asked whether she will be referred to as Samantha Lavender after her big day, Armytage would not confirm or deny the speculation, only telling Confidential that changing her last name is an “interesting thought” and she’s keeping it in mind.

It comes after the smitten couple stepped out at the Everest Carnival Fashion Lunch last week, where Lavender revealed that he knew Armytage was “the one” from the moment they met.

“It was immediate. This sounds really stupid but I thought, ‘gee whiz, I like that girl’ from the moment I first saw her,” he said.

“I had no idea what she did or anything like that, which was probably a plus. You know when you meet someone and you feel comfortable.”

Armytage echoed similar sentiments, previously telling Who magazine they met through mutual friends over a year ago at Skye Leckie’s lavish birthday bash in the Southern Highlands and had an instant connection.

“His eyes were the first thing I saw,” Armytage said, adding “there was a connection” between the pair when they first crossed paths.

Lavender, a former farmer who lives in the Southern Highlands, proposed to the Channel 7 host while they were gardening at his rural property.

“We’d been picking weeds in the paddock and he said ‘darling, do you want to marry me?’,” she said on the show. “It was very sweet, very romantic.”

Armytage is set to become a stepmother to Lavender’s two daughters from his previous marriage when they’re officially married.
