The Mad Monday festivities marking the end of the season for some AFL clubs started in earnest on Saturday night.

Essendon and North Melbourne players converged on The Osborne Rooftop and Bar in South Yarra where the popular venue celebrated its fourth birthday.

Owner Simon Lennox hosted players including Bomber Nick Hind and his partner Natalie McDonald, plus Dyson Heppell, Darcy Parish and Andy McGrath.

North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell, Josh Walker and Aiden Bonar were also there, along with Magpies great Dane Swan and horse trainer Ciaron Maher.

The Hawks, Saints and Carlton players also hit the town on Sunday night, popular venues including Public House, Electric, Crown casino, The Albion and Revolver. One star Hawk was working the phones in search of a venue at 3am.

Lennox says his Osborne venue is back to its pre-Covid numbers after an interrupted two years, with events already locked in for Grand Final Day and a spring carnival partnership with Ciaron Maher Racing for the Caulfield and Flemington races.

“The hospitality industry has been decimated for the last two years so management and staff are thrilled for patrons to finally be able to gather and celebrate,’’ Lennox said.

“It’s great to see and we are an established destination where people know they will have a good time.”

Recently The Osborne hosted the 30th birthday celebration for Maddie Daicos, sister of Collingwood stars Josh and Nick.
