Former Bachelor Matty Johnson has slowly started planning his dream wedding with his fiancée Laura Byrne.
Johnson told Confidential that they have started thinking about wedding venues and will likely tie the knot next year.
“There’s no date, we love the idea of doing it next year. It might be in September when it’s not too hot and just starting to get warmer,” he said at Jimmy Choo’s men’s fragrance launch.
“It’s been the one thing on my to-do list that keeps getting pushed down. We were about to start organising it then the podcast popped up.
“My background is event management so I kind of took the reigns early on and I need to spend more time focusing on the wedding.”
The couple announced their engagement earlier this year and welcome the birth of their first child Marlie-Mae in June.
Johnson said having a baby has “solidified” their relationship.
“Last night, Marlie was unwell and she woke up five or six times because she’s got a blocked nose. The first two times I tried to help but by the third time I was so tired and Laura just got up without question,” he said.
“She will get up at any hour of the night. She does so much work, way more than I do so the appreciation I have for Laura now is so much more.
“Mornings are my favourite part. Marlie’s five months at the moment and the first 45 minutes when she wakes up are definitely the best. She’s such a happy baby and to have a cuddle with
Marley and Laura is the most amazing time of the day.”
The reality star, who recently announced the launch of his new podcast on Nova, got Marlie-Mae’s birthday tattooed on his arm this week to honour his little girl.
“Fatherhood is incredible, it’s also exhausting,” he said.
“Even this afternoon I was looking after her and Laura was at work and I was changing her nappy and I was just smiling at my daughter thinking it’s so weird that she’s a part of me and a part of Laura.
“There were times before I went on [The Bachelor] where I was like ‘maybe I wont be a dad, maybe it won’t happen for me’. So to now have a daughter and Laura, it’s like could life get any better?”
