‘Want a break’: Tony Jones won’t fill in for Tom Elliott on 3AW mornings over summer
Tony Jones threw a curveball at 3AW host Tom Elliott when he revealed his thoughts on his summer radio gig that he’s done for over a decade.
Tony Jones has made the call to take the summer off television and radio.
The Channel 9 sports presenter usually fills in on 3AW mornings but won’t be in the chair for Tom Elliott this year.
“I just want to take a break,’’ Jones said. “I’ve done it for 11 years and I enjoy it but I’m looking forward to having some time off.”
Jones also fills in on mornings over other survey breaks throughout the year.
Elliott ended his usual segment with Jones by saying we’ll see you soon, but was surprised when Jones told him it wouldn’t be him.
It’s not been confirmed yet, but it’s understood the five week fill-in job from next week will be shared between Shane McInnes and Heidi Murphy, who also fill in on drive. Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen usually take the reins for breakfast.
Elsewhere at Triple M for Summer breakfast from December 17, Xander McGuire will be filling in alongside Kate McCarthy and Max Gawn.
