Victoria’s Secret model Kelly Gale reflects on her Victorian roots
Australian catwalk star Kelly Gale has chased her dreams all the way to the famous Victoria’s Secret show. Now she’s revealed more on her humble Victorian beginnings.

Her father is from Tatura, in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley, but those humble beginnings have not stopped Victoria’s Secret supermodel Kelly Gale living her dreams on the world stage.
Gale, who is home to attend the Australian Open, said: “My dad moved to Melbourne, but when we were younger he’d always take us back to Tatura. It’s very, very, very small and there’s not much to do there.”

But Gale paid tribute to her Aussie dad, Jeff, for encouraging her to go global. She is now one of the world’s top models with clients including Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Chanel, Tom Ford, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
“My parents always told me I could do anything I wanted to,” Gale, a guest of Piper Heidsieck champagne, said at the tennis earlier today.
“I felt like they really meant it, so I believed them and I followed my dreams.”
She said top-level success takes “a strong mind and being secure in who you are,” adding:
“You can’t let people boss you around or tell you what to do.”
Gale said her Aussie bloodline shows in the way she is “relaxed, chill and laid-back.”
She said it “definitely helps (in the modelling world) when everything else is really stressful to not be part of that.”
Gale has walked in every Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since 2014.
“You have to feel good and look good,” she said, “and living a healthy and active lifestyle gives you that.”
