Bunnings sausage sizzle scandal

Controversial radio host Kyle Sandilands has unleashed at vegans targeting Bunnings sausage sizzle bushfire fundraisers.

The KIIS host said claims by vegans that the sausage sizzles were a contributor to climate change were “ridiculous.”

One caller told morning radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O that a group of vegans crashed his local Bunnings sausage sizzle fundraiser for bushfire-affected parts of the state.

The group staunchly criticised the fundraiser, saying that the production of beef sausages contributed to global warming and the sausages should instead be vegan.

“If you want to be a vegan hippy that’s fine but choose your location,” he said.

One of the ‘leaders’ of the hippy group should have thought about the consequences.

“I know they are not well because they’ve got no meat in them - they’re very grey looking and slow humans - but someone at the hippy meeting must’ve said ‘let’s not pick on them there.”

A few weeks ago, Sandilands made “offensive” comments about the Virgin Mary, sparking a major backlash and calls for the host’s sacking.

The latest vegan uproar is part of a growing campaign against Bunnings for holding sausage sizzles to raise money for bushfire victims.

Just days ago, a vegan took to a Facebook group to slam Bunnings’ decision to donate all funds from its sausage sizzles on November 22 to bushfire victims.

“Why oh why are people selling sausages to raise money when it’s known that meat is a contributing factor to climate change? Which is a contributing factor to these fires!” one person wrote on the Facebook group Vegan Gals Australia.

“It honestly baffles my mind and makes me so sad.

“It’s a heartbreaking vicious cycle.”

The post, which went viral, was subject to extensive criticism, with labelling it as politicising the issue.
