GWS Giants captain Toby Greene has pulled off an epic proposal to his partner that left her wondering if it was a prank.
Greene got down on one knee while holding the couple’s daughter Isla and produced a ring for his shocked partner Georgia Stirton.
In a video posted to Instagram, Greene laid out rose petals in the shape of a heart on a sun-filled deck in a romantic location.
Stirton captioned the video with Sam Smith’s hit Latch playing: “Apparently not a prank”.
It was accompanied by emojis of laughing, a love heart and a ring.
The couple share a laugh before Greene puts the diamond ring on Stirton’s finger and they embrace surrounded by family who had filmed the heartfelt surprise.
“Just be grateful there’s no audio because all I was saying was ‘what the f’ 20 times’,’’ Stirton replied to a comment on the post.
The GWS Giants wrote, “About time” while many of Greene’s teammates plus wives and girlfriends of footballers left messages of congratulations.
Greene and Stirton, a youth worker, shared in February that they had become proud new parents, posting a short and sweet video of their baby’s little legs with Greene writing “new best friend”.
They revealed they were expecting when they stepped out at last year’s Brownlow Medal.
Greene, last year’s all-Australian captain, had said he’d be asking for plenty of advice.
“I’ll be making plenty of phone calls to mum and friends who have had babies and will just go on from there,” he said.
“Once it comes I’m sure it’s going to be a big shock to the system … I’m sure Georgia will be super accommodating as well, she’ll be a super good mum.”
