Love is in the air at the kennel with four Western Bulldogs players embracing wedding bells over the Christmas and New Year period.
Defender Ryan Gardner married his stylist partner Alana Spina in Hobart at the weekend, while Ed Richards, Tom Liberatore and Bailey Dale all proposed to their partners.
Richards is engaged to long-time partner Elle Neofytou, midfield star Liberatore revealed he’d popped the question to partner Maddy Krueger and Dale announced he is set to marry Erin Meade.
They follow captain Marcus Bontempelli who proposed to his partner Neila Brenning in November.
Gardiner this week posted stunning wedding pictures, wearing a traditional black tie suit with Spina in a beautiful white strapless gown.
She wrote on a video of their special day: “I got you baby”.
Many of the players including Cody Weightman and Rory Lobb were there to toast the marriage. Another group gathered closer to home on Sunday to celebrate Liberatore and Richards and the team’s happy relationships. Former Bulldogs big man Jordon Sweet, now at Port Adelaide, also tied the knot at the weekend in Adelaide.
In other footy news, Richmond premiership star Jayden Short married his love Maddy Bekiaris at The Trust in the city.
Among his groomsmen were former teammates Jack Graham and Kane Lambert. Bekiaris wore a white gown by Vivienne Westwood and the couple headed to Jackalope on the Mornington Peninsula post-wedding.
Brisbane’s Darcy Gardiner exchanged vows with Sophie Kebbell on New Year’s Eve at Woolbrook Homestead near Geelong. Many Lions premiership stars attended the wedding.
Sydney’s Robbie Fox said I do, as did Adelaide’s Reilly O’Brien.
Prior to Christmas St Kilda captain Jack Steele and partner Jaz Buckley showed off her sparkling new diamond engagement ring while Collingwood premiership defender Billy Frampton proposed to his partner Sydney Perer. Essendon big man Peter Wright is also engaged, to partner Ellie Holmes
