Summer Warne says she’s proud to have taken herself out of her comfort zone with her late father’s encouragement on her mind.
The youngest daughter of spin king Shane Warne was unmasked on The Masked Singer on Monday night as Bad Avocado.
She sang a touching rendition of Coldplay’s hit Yellow, the song Chris Martin sang at her Dad’s State Memorial service.
“It was a whole mix of emotions, this will be really good for me,” Summer, 21, said.
“Dad was basically the reason why I did it. He was my anchor throughout this and I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t have his voice in my head.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. It was all about getting out of my comfort zone and I was thinking ‘you can do it, you did it’.
“I didn’t hold back and there was a part of my life where I was really lost and didn’t know what I was doing, but I did it.”
Warne has faced much online criticism and hit back recently at some unsavoury headlines regarding her body.
She said she has her late father’s feistiness.
“You’ve got to take it with a grain of salt, those people who’ll hate on you,” Summer said.
“I just had enough, people shouldn’t have to deal with this stuff and Dad dealt with it his whole life. Don’t give them power and I had a moment of weakness, but I’m like no you can get stuffed, I’m a good person.
“Dad was bashed in the media a lot and the only times he got upset was when it was about his family.
“I’ve got his hot headedness too. It means nothing to me any more, I’m living my life.
“I know I’m not a celebrity, my Dad is a celebrity and I’m thankful that if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be given this opportunity.”
Warne said she’d like to pursue more acting opportunities.
Her mum Simone Callahan, sister Brooke and brother Jackson all posted their excitement at seeing her give it a go.
