Snowboard champ Scotty James engaged to Canadian F1 heiress Chloe Stroll

Aussie snowboarding champion Scotty James has taken a break from training for the Winter Olympics in Switzerland to propose to his Canadian heiress girlfriend.

Snowboarding champion Scotty James has popped the question to his Canadian sweetheart Chloe Stroll.

James proposed in the snow in Switzerland where he has been training and preparing for the February Winter Olympics.

“We’re getting married, everyone this is my fiancee,’’ James said in a video posted on Instagram.

Stroll commented on her post: “Forever”, along with a ring emoji and a picture of the moment James got down on one knee in the snow.

Aspiring musician Stroll and James met three years ago after her brother, F1 driver Lance Stroll, turned matchmaker.

Stroll is the daughter of Canadian billionaire and Formula 1 team owner Lawrence Stroll and has been travelling the world from the time of her first flight at six weeks old.

The pair spent some months together last year on the Mornington Peninsula. It was the longest time James, who grew up in Warrandyte, had been home since he was 13.

Stroll told the Herald Sun last year: “Lance actually called me and said, ‘I think I just found the guy you’re going to marry’.

The pair met after being introduced by Stroll’s brother, F1 driver Lance Stroll.

“It was kind of strange. I had a conference in Park City (Utah), which was where his next competition was the same weekend and a lot of random things happened.

“Scotty was very cute. We dated for about four months, or as he likes to say, we got to know each other, before he officially asked me to be his girlfriend.”

James said it didn’t take long to know Stroll was the girl for him.

“I just connected with her in New York and went out to dinner with her at a place called Motel Morris in Chelsea and the rest is history,’’ he said.

Stroll has been spending time in New York to further her singing and songwriting career.

Stroll is a talented musician, while James is eyeing a gold medal in Beijing.

“She’s quite a talented musician,’’ James told the Herald Sun recently.

“It’s been really cool watching her do her thing. She’s always had a huge passion for music and it’s the industry she wants to be a part of. She’s really enjoying it.”

James is eyeing a gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

He won a bronze medal at the last Games and is aiming higher in February.

“It’s the elephant in the room at the moment but I’m very excited for the Games and feeling really good on my snowboard and I’ve got an amazing team behind me,’’ James said.

“To be the best snowboarder that I can, right now I’m really happy and healthy so we’ll see what happens.”

He is soon heading over to the US for the first two events of the season.
