Dami Im hopes the show will keep dancing on after her elimination from Dancing With the Stars last night.

The singer said continuing would keep bringing much needed positivity to people struggling at home.

“I hope the show can continue because it brings so much joy and positivity to everyone,’’ Dami said.

“It’s a distraction, just providing something people can sit home and watch and it’s so light hearted.

“We even felt that ourselves, I could feel the cast and the crew were just grateful having something to do and having a job. It put everything into perspective for everybody.

“Everybody is really keen to do this for as long as they can. Everything is so uncertain at this point, but I think people are determined to continue as long as they can.”

It’s believed Network 10 is weighing up whether to continue with the show and will make a decision by the end of the week.

Im said there was no concern about Christian Wilkins, who went into isolation after his dad Richard Wilkins tested positive for coronavirus.

“We were worried mostly about Christian because he was upset about it understandably,’’ she said.

“When he got the news we weren’t even thinking about him having to self isolate, it was just he found out his dad is sick. It was a really confusing time for us.

“The chances of him having it were so low he almost didn’t need to get tested but he did all the right things and it was just challenging emotionally for him and us.”

Not a noted dancer, Im said she was surprised she lasted so long in the competition.

“I’ve done it for seven weeks and each week I thought it was going to be my last and I kept getting through because of my Dami Army support,’’ she said.

“I went a lot further than I thought I could have and I’m very grateful for the experience. I am really not a dancer and I was the least experienced, I’ve learnt so much.

“Especially in these crazy times it was really good to just learn to dance.

“It doesn’t come naturally to me and I had to do it weekly and get judged for it. Getting really sore ribs and sore legs and everything was really tough and mentally just turning up and marching on. Even when things weren’t easy, in that way it was tough. I’m really glad I got to do it and I learned so much about that and dancing as well.”

Im released a new single during the show called Marching On and said she will continue to record a new album.
