SHANE Bourne is back in his element doing live television and isn’t fazed by detractors.
The new co-host of Dancing With the Stars copped criticism on social media during his debut show last week, but says he has received positive personal feedback.
“I’ve been doing this for 40 years plus, you know when you’re on and when you’re not,’’ Bourne said.
“I thought it was great. You can’t please everyone.
“To be honest, the dancers are the stars, the judges have the most interesting things to say and (co-host) Edy (Edwina Bartholomew) and I are directing traffic. And enjoying it immensely.”
Bourne said he was having a ball and looked forward to seeing how the show played out.
“I’m on my home turf in regards to live entertainment,’’ he said.
“It’s so great to hear a live band and it’s all very exciting.
“Jude Bolton was a knockout and Ash (Pollard) seems to have the goods. Matthew Mitcham has so much energy and Matt Rogers did well. Everyone starts to become like family.”
On Sunday night veteran singer John Paul Young was the first to leave.
He said he was proud he gave it a go.
“I was never that high so I wasn’t going to fall too far,’’ Young said.
“It was great fun, maybe they’ll get me back to sing.
“Time to go fishing.”
