Love Island star Taylor Reid says he went through some “dark” times watching his villain edit on the show.

The Melbourne model copped a lot of hate from viewers on social media.

“I wouldn’t say I was too shocked but it was hard,’’ he said.

“I had some pretty dark moments... there were some nasty videos and comments made because of how I was portrayed. The editors are very good at what they do.

“I was thinking this is unfair but in real life people can see through the bullshit.”

Reid left Spain with Hannah Steinfeld but he’s now single.

“They didn’t show how close we were, we were very good friends the whole way so when she pulled me aside it wasn’t such a shock,’’ he said.

Reid said he’s not surprised to see the fallout from winners Em and Mercedes.

“There’s definitely a few people acting and moving a certain way,’’ he said.

Reid is tackling the Portsea Bay to Surf on January 17, which offers 9km and 4.5km run options, plus a 4.5km walk.

The following day the Portsea Swim Classic takes place with both events supporting the Portsea Surf Life Saving Club, raising funds for lifesaving equipment and public water safety programs.
