Sam Newman has been a constant critic of the Victorian Government but now the former TV larrikin has stepped up his criticism, calling for the Premier to resign.

Sam Newman has labelled the Victorian Government as “liars”, “disingenuous” and “evil” in his most extraordinary outburst yet.
The former host of The Footy Show said the current situation in Victoria is a crisis and called for Premier Daniel Andrews to resign.
“I have never seen a Government treat its citizens like this Victorian Government is treating its citizens at the minute,’’ Newman said on his You Cannot Be Serious podcast.
“It’s an absolute travesty, it’s a disgrace. And we are in the midst of a political crisis.
“The Government are liars, they are disingenuous and they are actually evil and what they are doing to the people of this state is extraordinary.”
Newman also labelled it a disgrace that the Government was handing billion dollar contracts to Chinese companies.
“How does a company that is not even a preferred supplier to the Victorian Government get a $30 million contract for three months without open competition or a competitive tender process,’’ he said.
“That’s people who have plunged this state into 800 deaths overseen by this Government … and they are treating the people of this state with utter contempt and they must leave. The Premier must either resign or get taken out of office.
“The fact that they are in bed with the Chinese, this is not a reflection on people who are living in this country from China or who are either Chinese nationals or Australian citizens, this is about the Chinese Government who have spread a pandemic throughout the whole world.
“They have infiltrated this Government by complicity, by the wherewithal and complete satisfaction of this Government they have taken over this city thanks to the Victorian Labor Government.”
Newman and co-host Don Scott were also joined by former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett who put forward his views.
“He (Premier Andrews) has by his own admission brought this state to its knees,’’ Kennett said.
“Imagine if I was responsible for one death, let alone 800, I would have been run out of town.”
Newman added: “You wouldn’t believe for how many people you speak for.
“Everyone has had a gutful. The absolute arrogance and pompous nature of this Government is extraordinary.
“This is a weak and shallow exploitation of the Victorian public by this Government.
“They’re only interested in you on one day and that’s election day.
“I survived the Gough Whitlam Government who did extraordinary things. In one year they had the highest industrial unrest, the highest interest rates, the highest unemployment and highest inflation in one year. No one has ever done that in the history of the world.
“But this is more than that. This is a huge crisis.”
