HOW PLAYBOY CHANGED SAM’S LIFE
“It would be interesting dealing with my whole life’s indiscretions and most of the time would be taken up with defending yourself.”
Newman hosted new Footy Show recruits Chris Judd, Brendan Fevola and Dane Swan on his yacht on Sunday.
“Watching people sea sick, who have braved the arena and taken a battering ... Brendan Fevola was one who couldn’t handle the motion of a boat. But they saw it through.”
Swan celebrated his birthday on Sunday with the crew and then headed to his pub The Albion with friends.
HEY HEY, MICK MOLLOY’S INSPIRED
RADIO duo Mick Molloy and Jane Kennedy are an inspiration to many broadcasters because of their past feats including The D-Generation and Martin-Molloy.
On Monday, at a long lunch to celebrate their national drive show, which airs on FOX FM in Melbourne, Kennedy and Molloy opened up about the legends that inspired them.
“I used to like listening XYZOO with (broadcaster and comedian) Richard Stubbs,” Kennedy said. “That was my first experience of hearing a show where it was a comedian running the ship.”
Molloy cited British comedian troupe, The Goons, and also Bert Newton, Paul Hogan and variety show Hey Hey, it’s Saturday . “Early Hey hey, as a kid, there was nothing better,” Molloy said. “It was a uniquely Australian format.”
He added: “Paul Hogan made me laugh out loud and say: ‘I reckon I could do that’.”
MELBOURNE’S MESSAGE FOR MARDI GRAS
MELBOURNE is sending its support to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras with gloss, glamour and whole lot of glitter.
Art Simone, an award-winning drag artist who stars in Priscilla Queen Of The Desert — The Musical, stepped in front of a confetti cannon for the cause on Monday.
Melburnians are being asked to write personal messages of support on rainbow-coloured paper which will be stuck to giant letters spelling out the word YAY.
The letters, part of an ANZ promotion, will be in front of the State Library from 8am to 5pm today.
Priscilla, with lead stars Tony Sheldon, David Harris, Euan Doidge, is playing at the Regent Theatre.
The musical is based on the popular 1994 film.
