Sacked Showbiz: Single Molloy no ‘idiot’ on dating apps

Mick Molloy hasn’t given up on love but won’t be making an “idiot” of himself on dating apps while raising his twin boys.

Molloy - I think I have been sacked by every network

Mick Molloy says he’s happily single, has no time for dating apps, and is focused on raising his twin boys.

Molloy co-hosts Channel 7’s The Front Bar, and Triple M’s Kennedy Molloy show, with Jane Kennedy.

He is also a proud and smitten dad to twin boys, Fred and Lenny, now aged eight.

“I’m in a good place,” Molloy told the Herald Sun’s Sacked: Showbiz podcast.

“I’m loving work on two fronts, I’m loving seeing my boys, and I’m OK at the moment … I haven’t given up completely, of course, but this is the world I’m living in, and I’m really happy.

“That said ladies, if there’s any degree of interest out there at all, I’m on Insta.”

Asked if he’s tried dating apps, Molloy replied: “You can’t do it because you look like an idiot. There’s no point, but that’s the way these days. You can’t even get a shag at work.

“There’s a bonk ban, but I reckon 80 per cent of people I know have found their significant partner or other at work.”

Molloy said he’d probably fail the dating app questionnaire, and joked that women on those sites probably want a man who “can do 25 burpees” and “drink limoncello.”

He added: “I’ve been really lucky in my life to have some great significant relationships and now is not that time, and I’m comfortable with that.”

Before Fred and Lenny arrived, Molloy said it took “a while to get my head around the idea I was going to be a father.”

When he went to the hospital to see the ultrasound, doctors took him to a room.

“I look at (the ultrasound), and I go, ‘Why have they taken it twice?’ Then a stony silence, and I go, ‘Oh my God.’ It never crossed my mind it would be twins.”

Molloy said bringing two children into the world at the same time was “harder” for their mother, Angela.

“As they get older they’re little mates, they’ve got each other, and you don’t have to be entertaining them from start to finish. And they make me laugh, you know?

“It’s like an instant family that dropped out of the sky and I got them.”

Their footy club allegiances are also hereditary.

“They love Richmond, and they hate Collingwood,” Molloy said.

“That’s pretty good parenting. Their two questions are, ‘Dad, did the Tigers win? and, ‘Dad, did the Pies lose?’”

He takes them to the footy, but keeps them out of the spotlight, and off social media.

“I don’t put my kids on Instagram,” Molloy said. “When they are old enough to be aware of it, they can make their own choices.”

He laughed: “You can have them on Sacked, when they fail Year 5 or steal their first car.”
