Tim Watson has taken inspiration from one of the world’s most stylish men as he steps back into the footy media spotlight following his departure from Channel 7.

Tim Watson unveiled a new look on Tuesday as he resumed his radio career after retiring from television.

Watson’s silver-fox beard was the number one topic of discussion when he joined co-host Garry Lyon for SEN breakfast.

Watson said he was loving the new “George Clooney” look.

“He’s had a reset. He’s had a makeover over the break, he’s back bigger, larger,’’ Watson said of himself.

“Gone for a no.2, it was a bit sharper than I thought a no.2 was going to be. It’s very George Clooney-ish. This is the look.

“I’m not doing any TV, I’ve retired. I’m having people stop me in the street saying, ‘my god that beard looks magnificent’. There are people who like the clean shaven look. What I have noticed, I didn’t realise how many people have beards and the whiskers.”

Lyon was highly amused, likening him to Santa Claus and David Letterman.

“I don’t know what to say,’’ he said.

“It has given you a much harder edge.

“An all grey Grizzly Adams style beard. That’s the reaction I’ve had from others too.”

Watson signed off from Channel 7 with his last sports bulletin in December after three decades at the network.

The footy legend and long-time broadcaster and commentator said he’s had the “best job for nearly 30 years” at Seven.
