Radio Host Mark Fine to return to SEN airwaves in 2024

Former SEN favourite Mark Fine — whose radio show gave footy tragics a place to vent post game — will return to the station in 2024 with his iconic show ‘Finey’s final siren’.

Mark Fine’s show Finey’s Final Siren became a Melbourne footy institution until it was axed in 2018.

Former SEN favourite Mark “Finey” Fine is reprising his cult footy show on radio this year.

As reported by the Herald Sun, Finey worked for 14 years at the sports station and helmed Evenings with Mark Fine along with colourful talkback segment Finey’s Final Siren.

That show will return on Friday nights from 11pm-1am.

“I’m thrilled to be back on SEN 1116am doing the program I loved most, Finey’s Final Siren,’’ Fine said. “There’s nothing like talkback with passionate footy fans straight after the game, so as strange as it sounds, bring on Round 0, call in and let’s all have a crack.”

Finey’s Final Siren was axed in 2018 when new boss Craig Hutchison took over.

After making a guest appearance to celebrate SEN’s 20 years on-air last month, Fine said he was very open to taking the job on again after rejecting advances last year.

“They have had another crack and this time I laid my demands,’’ Fine said last week on the Ruck ‘n Roll podcast with Kevin Hillier and Brian Mannix.

“Last year I was a deer in the headlights and I said publicly it wasn’t the money. Let me tell you they didn’t offer me anything that made me think twice.

“It’s not so much about the cash return, the money return, but I’m after some exposure for the business (Lenny’s Fine Food Deli) and if they come to the party I’ll be doing Friday night after the footy.”

Fine’s post-game show, Finey’s Final Siren, became an institution.

The unique format gave passionate footy fans an outlet to vent about their team post-game.

Meanwhile, Hutchison will be among the many prominent Melburnians in Las Vegas for Superbowl.

Eddie McGuire and Neil Wilson are also among those attending the NFL showpiece event while SEN’s Gerard Whateley was already broadcasting from Vegas on Monday.
