Dane Swan has revealed his new venture which will mean spending more time up north.
The Collingwood Hall of Famer has invested in an adult entertainment centre in the heart of Surfers Paradise which has got the Gold Coast buzzing.
Playzone GC will have its grand opening in April with former footy star Brendan Fevola named as the venue’s ambassador.
“Very excited to open a venue on the Gold Coast,’’ Swan said from Queensland.
“I plan on spending a lot of time here, especially during the winter months. Will give me a good chance to practice my bull riding and pickleball.”
Swan’s fellow owners and partners include Melbourne businessmen Darren Sutton, Steven Hiles and Tom Macfarlane Berry.
The new attraction will feature karaoke, a ball pit, dunk tank, pool table, pickleball court, an inflatable sumo suit arena and a mechanical bull.
Swan was behind The Playzone South Yarra’s huge grand final week party modelled on Shaq’s Fun House Super Bowl weekend extravaganza.
He is no longer part of South Melbourne’s The Albion after it was sold but he is still a part-owner of the historic Union Hotel in Windsor and has interests in South Yarra venue The Osborne.
Sutton said bookings for Playzone Gold Coast, located on Cavill Avenue, would be open from March 29.
“We are so pumped,’’ he said.
“There will be three action-packed levels... also an entire level themed around the Hollywood blockbuster movie Coyote Ugly, which will include a mechanical bucking bull and rodeo-zone showgirl water-themed performances.
“It is custom-made for bucks and hens parties, birthdays, sporting clubs and sportsmans nights, corporate and team building as well as end of season trips.”
The plans say the venue does not support walk-ins allowing for control and regulation of patron numbers.
The site was where long-time Surfers Paradise eatery Bavarian Haus had been located.
