PACKED To The Rafters came full circle for fans and cast alike on Tuesday night as they gathered to watch the final instalment of the much-loved drama.
When it all began five years ago a nervous but hopeful Rafters cast gathered at the Paddington home of Jo Porter who created the show along with John Holmes and Bevan Lee, to watch its debut go to air.
On Tuesday night a group including stars Rebecca Gibney, Michael Caton, George Houvardas and Zoe Cramond were back at Porters' place to watch the final episode.
"There were lots of laughs, a few tears and lots of back and forth on the phones with other cast," Houvardas said.
"It really was about coming full circle."
Hugh Sheridan, filming in Melbourne, was in touch with the Paddington crew, and kept up a Twitter stream of old pictures and memories.
The final episode's ratings figures were modest by Rafters' old standards, an average 1.3 million across the two-hour finale, compared with the two-million-plus the show attracted at the height of its popularity, but the show finished second on the night, beaten only by Nine's news.
