A GLITCH didn’t stop Hitch from being No.1.
Melbourne’s Nine News was forced to take a news feed from Sydney after last night’s 6pm bulletin had technical problems.
Oddly, the chaos began after news anchor Peter Hitchener read an item about ransomware.
With autocues and computers down Hitchener went old school, relaying the day’s headlines from sheets of papers with reading glasses on.
“We had a few gremlins in the system yesterday. These things happen from time to time, even in the best kept houses,” Hitchener told Confidential.
“I am pleased to say that it wasn’t a ransomware attack from North Korea.
“It will be business as usual tonight. Viewers will receive the weather report from Surrey Hills, rather than Terrey Hills.”
Channel Nine said despite the technical difficulties, Nine News still was the No. 1 program in Melbourne last night.
