HIGH profile chef Neil Perry is entertaining the competitive burger market in Melbourne, with plans to open possibly five outlets of his up market chain Burger Project in the next eighteen months.
The first outlet will open in the City in March next year,
“There are two definites at this stage with Collins St in March and Chadstone (Shopping Centre) hopefully the following November,” Perry told the Herald Sun.
“I would like open somewhere like Richmond or Carlton and Crown are very interested, so we could have five in the next 18 months.”
Perry so far only has one Burger Project outlet in Australia, in Sydney’s CBD.
The chain’s mantra is “fast food, slow food values.”
According Burger Project’s website, the burgers on the menu are made from all natural ingredients that includes no hormones and no antibiotics.
The burgers start from $8.90
Sydney-based Perry already has a huge presence in Melbourne, with three restaurants at Crown — Rockpool, Spice Temple and Rosetta.
He also hopes to expand Burger Project to the very lucrative, but crowded, American market in the near future.
As well as all the restaurants, Perry has accepted his first major television role on Channel 7’s Restaurant Revolution, where he is a mentor to contestants who are setting up restaurants from scratch.
“I really like the whole mentoring part of it, it’s what I do day to day in my restaurants anyway” he said.
“It was an opportunity to give my opinion to the guys, and hopefully offer a helping hand to them from time to time.”
