Some of Ramsay Street’s biggest names have returned to set just ten months on from filming the finale, spilling all the big secrets from its upcoming revival episode.

Neighbours’ longest serving cast member Stefan Dennis says critics of the soap’s return should read the room.

Ten months on from when the finale was filmed, production officially recommenced on Monday in its Ramsay St home at Pin Oak Court in Vermont South.

“I don’t think there should be sour grapes or thinking that it was futile because no one knew,’’ Dennis said.

“It wasn’t a waste and at the end of the day it’s so popular it’s been resurrected not once, but twice. I was around the first time which was seven months in. I don’t know about there being a bone of contention with some guys but we were saying goodbye. It was a pleasurable shock to everyone that the show got picked up and it’s a credit to everyone involved.”

Network 10 with Amazon Freevee and Prime Video have given Neighbours a lifeline, with other familiar faces joining Dennis on day one of filming.

Annie Jones, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, Jackie Woodburne, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Georgie Stone, Tim Kano, April Rose Pengilly, Melissa Bell and Lucinda Cowden were back on set, with Cowden’s return confirmed on Sunday night at the finale of the Neighbours Celebration Tour at Hamer Hall.

Jones, who reunited with Guy Pearce’s character Mike during the finale, said their ongoing relationship had been a big talking point in the UK.

“That’s the big question,’’ she said.

“I just got back from doing the tour and everyone wanted to know. It’s going to be really beautiful. It was such an emotional thing that we went through but I was so delighted to hear the show had been rescued. I popped onto set a few days early to make it look nice, it’s like being at school again.”

The finale episode of Neighbours drew a national audience of more than 1.48 million viewers when it aired in July. It saw the return of former big-name cast members, including Pearce, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie and Natalie Imbruglia.

Around 450 cast, crew and associated businesses have resumed work on the next instalment of the revitalised series, to air later this year.
