Stephanie McIntosh says coming home for Neighbours’ 35th anniversary has filled her with joy and nostalgia.
McIntosh, who played Sky Mangel from 2003-2007, was one of the soap’s favourite actors before pursuing a singing and acting career overseas.
She has returned home from LA to play the same character on Ramsay St until January next year.
“It’s so good to be back, it was almost like I was stepping back in time,’’ McIntosh said.
“It’s just so exciting and I’m grateful to come back to the old playground. Part of me feels like it was yesterday. Most of my family is here, I do feel like Melbourne is home and feel very nostalgic when I’m here.
“At one point I had my album, was with Neighbours and I had a lot going on. Everything was in full swing so it was nice to go off the grid and do some growing up.”
McIntosh’s half-brother is another Neighbours favourite, Jason Donovan, and his daughter Jemma is currently on the show.
“It would be a milestone in itself to have three generations in one hit and Jason happens to be here for Chicago so it’s all aligning and unplanned,’’ she said.
“Jemma is very sweet and happy and grateful. We’re keeping it well and alive in the family.”
McIntosh and husband Peter have two daughters, Milla, 5 and Goldie, 1 who were born in the US.
“Australia will forever be home but now my two daughters are born there I feel a connection. It’s lovely I have two cities,’’ she said.
“The girls get to have some cousin and family time now, my mum, dad and sisters are here, so it’s a win-win in every way.”
Other actors returning for the Neighbours 35th anniversary are Bruce Samazan, Melissa Bell, Olympia Valance, Andrew Morley, Annie Jones, Damien Bodie, Paul Keane and Scott McGregor.
