Attendees also included Jack and Mikayla Crisp, Hugh Sheridan, Matt Agnew, Sharon Johal, David and Tahan Reynolds, Sophie Cachia, Gary and Madi Rohan, Baker Boy and Casey Donovan, who all enjoyed dinner at one of the ship’s many restaurants.

Johal is setting sail on a cruise over the new year period, while Sheridan is expected to work with Virgin Voyages after also attending the Sydney launch.

Virgin Voyages’ Chief Executive Officer Nirmal Saverimuttu said “we wanted to make an epic splash in Melbourne – one that would match the excitement we have about our summer season here – and we certainly accomplished that.”

“Not only did we raise funds for ocean conservation, a noble cause that’s deeply ingrained in our brand ethos, but we gave Melbourne a small taste of what they can expect all summer long. We hope that with the incredible value we offer our Sailors, local residents will give us a chance and experience what it means to set sail the Virgin way,” Mr Saverimuttu said.

Sir Richard Branson will farewell the huge 277m-long ship which can carry more than 2700 passengers and about 1160 crew members as she sets sail around Tasmania.
