Mike Brady’s footy anthem Up There Cazaly is a grand final tradition — but will he perform it?
Singer Mike Brady hasn’t yet been asked to perform Up There Cazaly at the 2020 AFL Grand Final — but has revealed the lengths he’ll go to belt out the tune at the Gabba in October.

Mike Brady would love to continue the tradition of singing his Australian football anthem, Up There Cazaly, at the Grand Final.
The legendary performer hasn’t heard from the AFL yet, but it has been confirmed that the entertainment will be an All-Australian line-up at the Gabba on October 24.
“I’ll go up on my Vespa if I have to,’’ Brady said.
“I have to be really honest and say I didn’t really expect to hear anything from the AFL because they’ve got a lot on their plate.
“But I’d be very happy to do it.
“I think the year that Up There Cazaly needs to be sung is probably this year. It needs to uplift and it’s a very uplifting song. I’m hoping that I hear something.”
Brady first sung the song at the Grand Final in 1979 and he also usually performs his other anthem, One Day in September.
“I did do One Day in October once but people said it was horrible last time and I tend to agree,’’ Brady said.
“The Premier of Queensland had Up There Cazaly playing in the background prior to her launch announcement so that’s a good sign. They asked for permission which was polite.
“If it happens then that’s great,” he said.
With a focus on Queensland talent, those tipped to play in front of 30,000 fans on Grand Final day include Powderfinger, the Veronicas and Amy Shark.
