Mick Molloy moves to new Triple M Drive show with Jane Kennedy

HE’S no longer part of Triple M’s Hot Breakfast, but there’s a good reason radio funnyman Mick Molloy has made the move to afternoons.

Mick Molloy and Jane Kennedy host a new drive show on Triple M, starting on Monday.

RADIO star Mick Molloy has moved to a new national drive show with Jane Kennedy because he wants to spend more time with his twin boys.

Molloy, father of five-year-olds Fred and Lenny, has left the Hot Breakfast with Eddie McGuire and Luke Darcy, to co-host Kennedy Molloy from 4pm to 6pm on weekdays on Triple M.

The show, called Kennedy Molloy, debuts on Monday.

Molloy told Confidential: “I want to spend more time with my boys, who I love walking up with in the mornings, and I want a new challenge.

“I love them to death and I love having them come stay with me. With breakfast (radio), it was always tough because you’re leaving at 6.30am, getting a babysitter and running around. It worked OK, but now we’re in a place where I need to spend proper time with them.”

These guys go way back: Molloy and Kennedy with the original D-Generation crew.

Kennedy, a broadcaster, comedian and television producer who has worked in radio with Molloy in the past, said she was easily lured back to the microphone.

She said, laughing: “Hello, five kids at home. Hmmm, let me think. Do I want to be out of the house every afternoon between 4 and 6? Bang! I’ve always loved radio and the timing feels right.”

Kennedy says her partner, actor and television producer Rob Sitch, will be fine with the kids after school. “I have complete confidence in the system,” she said, with Molloy adding: “Two words — house hubby.”

Meanwhile, they’re not fazed by another two words doing the media rounds this week: Pay parity.

“Mick has insisted getting double what I get,” Kennedy joked.

Molloy: “She gets paid more than me!” Kennedy: “This is an issue for HR.”

Molloy: Just getting paid would be good.”

Molloy, who recently split with socialite girlfriend Susie McLean, said the matter was private.

“I have nothing but respect for her,” he said. “We’re still friends and we wish each other the best.”
