AUSSIE actor Melissa George has backflipped on her feelings towards Home And Away, even suggesting she could return to the soap that launched her career.
After years of scathing comments and distancing herself from the long-running Channel 7 show, George has surprisingly featured on a special celebrating 30 years of Summer Bay.
When quizzed if she would reprise the role of Angel, for the first time George was not dismissive of the idea.
“They have offered, but I don’t know,” she said.
The actor, who now lives in Paris and has gone on to star in an array of TV shows and films, opened up about her attempts to shake-off Home And Away.
“It is a hard thing to shake and at one point I tried to shake it, but there is no point,” she said.
These comments are in stark contrast to her previous thoughts on being linked to her time on the Aussie soap.
In an UK interview in 2012 George was scathing of Aussie media who linked her to the role that launched her career.
“I don’t need credibility from my country anymore, I just need them all to be quiet,” she said.
“If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don’t speak to me any more. I’d rather be having a croissant and an espresso in Paris or walking my french bulldog in New York City.
“I’ve never spoken out about it because I have to be the loyal good Aussie, who goes away and comes home.
“But I’m a really hardworking woman and people have to respect me for what I’ve done … my next call will be to Home And Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f…ing show than me.”
George is just one of Home And Away’s alumni who feature in the 30-year special. Dannii Minogue, Kate Ritchie, Steve Peacocke, Bec Hewitt, Nicolle Dickson, Alex Papps and Dieter Brummer all open up about their time on set.
Endless Summer — 30 Years of Home And Away will air on Channel 7 on Tuesday, July 17.
