TEENAGER Matty Mayne has a hair do that even the great mullet masters envy.
The 17-year-old year 12 student from Mornington has been growing his mane for the past three years and will ‘mow the mullet’ to raise money for the E.J. Whitten Foundation.
He has already raised close to $8000 of his $10,000 target via a website, social media and fundraising.
Hawthorn great Robert DiPierdomenico, who sported one of footy’s most famous mullets, was in awe when the pair met at Etihad Stadium yesterday.
“Dipper said to me, ‘now that is a f ... mullet’,’’ Mayne said. “He was impressed. It was all just a bit of a joke ... but then it grew on me and it helps with the ladies, too.
“We had a health scare with Dad last year and prostate cancer is the biggest killer of men in Australia.
“The Foundation focuses on men’s health as well because men are a lot more stubborn getting checks.”
Mayne, who is playing in his local footy grand final on Sunday, will be at Friday night’s E.J. Whitten Legends Game along with Dipper who is assistant coach of the Victorian side.
He is hoping to raise $10,000 before he undergoes the chop next week.
