Marty Sheargold has been given a new role on Triple M next year after stepping down from the breakfast show in July.
The high-profile host and comedian, who switched to a national 3-4pm show, will now helm the drive program through Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
The Marty Sheargold Show won’t be heard in Victoria across drive with the successful The Rush Hour with James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless continuing and extending its reach.
That show, along with anchor Ryan Warren, will now be heard in South Australia and Western Australia.
“I’m looking forward to returning to the drive shift for NSW and Queensland listeners in 2025 and giving them the extended version of the show,’’ Sheargold said.
“The commute home is a time to unwind and finish the day with a chat and a laugh, and that’s exactly what I will be aiming to deliver. I also wanted to thank the teams from the Sydney, Brisbane/Gold Coast and Queensland Rush Hour shows who have all had amazing stints and been hugely entertaining. I’m committed to carrying on their legacies.”
As revealed in September, Brayshaw and Brownless are replacing their friends in South Australia, Andrew Jarman, Bernie Vince and Greg Blewett, who were axed in a cost-cutting exercise from management.
“We’re excited that our live show will now be extended for our listeners in South and Western Australia, which are legendary footy states with an incredible history of successes, as Bill knows because he attends all their premiership reunions,’’ Brayshaw said.
“We also want to acknowledge the Adelaide and Perth Rush Hour teams, many of whom are great mates, and congratulate them on their shows. We don’t underestimate the opportunity we have been given and we are focused on creating a show that honours them and their listeners.”
Sheargold quit breakfast saying he wanted to “prioritise self-care (and) maintaining a better work/life balance”.
Also appearing on Fisk, he continued with his team of Troy Ellis, Loren Barry and Will Ralston in afternoons.
The drive line-up starts in January.
