Mariah Carey to serenade Melbourne’s NYE revellers

BILLIONAIRE James Packer’s girlfriend Mariah Carey will be the jewel in Crown’s New Year’s Eve bash in ­Melbourne.

BILLIONAIRE James Packer’s girlfriend Mariah Carey will be the jewel in Crown’s New Year’s Eve bash in ­Melbourne.

The singing superstar will headline the casino’s entertainment line-up, performing a string of hits for 1200 party­goers until midnight, the Herald Sun can exclusively reveal.

The smitten Crown mogul, 48, confirmed he would cheer on the starin the audience as she sang with her band in the Palladium ballroom.

The pop diva said she was thrilled to be seeing in the new year Down Under with her family in tow.

“I can’t wait to get back to Australia, I have so many of my friends and fans there and the country really means so much to me,” said Carey, 45.

“To be heading over for New Year’s Eve with James and to be able to put on a performance at Crown Melbourne — it’s incredibly exciting.

“Australia really will be the place to celebrate in the new year and I am counting down the days.”

The celebrity duo is expected to land in Melbourne on December 31 with Carey’s four-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, swapping ski suits for swimsuits.

The lovebirds are spending Christmas in US ski resort Aspen with her children as she takes a break from a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. They will also visit Sydney and the Packer family’s luxury rural retreat, Ellerston, in the Hunter Valley, spending time with his family and children Indigo, 7, Jackson, 5, and Emmanuelle, 3.

“Australia is such a wonderful country and being able to spend some time with James and my family in Melbourne, Sydney and Ellerston makes the trip so special,” Carey said.

The songstress has been enjoying a return to the charts with her festive smash, All I Want For Christmas, first released in 1994.

On Friday, she met up with the twins’ father, Nick Cannon, for a family Christmas.
