Kate Langbroek has promised listeners they’ll “meet again in the future” after she and Monty Dimond emotionally farewelled their KIIS FM radio show, 3PM Pick Up, on Friday.

Langbroek and Dimond said they had been each others’ rock through dark times and their love for each other had only grown stronger over the past two years.

It was confirmed in October that the axe had fallen on Langbroek, Dimond and Yumi Stynes, who had finished up earlier this week.

“If you live long enough life is just going to kick you in the kahones, even if you don’t have it,’’ Langbroek said.

“What is important when that happens is that you keep going and that you keep your spirits high and even when you’re in your darkest times you surround yourself with people who remember who you are. Because sometimes when you’re in the depths of dedpair you don’t remember who you are.

“But the poeple that love you are the ones who remember who are and hold the light up for you so you can enter yourself through the dark tunnel of whatever you are going through. And you have been that for me. I know I’ve been that for you.

“We have brought all of ourselves to the show, our hearts and our humour and we’ve walked the line of things you’re not supposed to say or things you’re not supposed to acknowledge.... we love you, we love our show... and we will meet again in the future.”

Dimond said it had been the most enjoyable two years of her radio life.

“Best two years I’ve ever had on air and I’ve been on air since I was 21,’’ she said.

“If I’m honest I think I was almost nervous to work with you because I held you on such a pedestal.

“It’s brought us even closer, I love you. We don’t know what’s next but it will be fun. Love you all.”

There were tributes from the likes of Karl Stefanovic, Peter Helliar, Dave O’Neil and Waleed Aly.

The show has been around since 2011 with various different hosting combinations including Bec Judd, Chrissie Swan, Meshel Laurie and Jane Hall.

A replacement show has yet to be announced.
