Kane Cornes denies claim he sat in business class while his family was in economy

Footy commentator Kane Cornes has lost his lid at a radio claim that he sat in business class while his family languished in economy, calling for help to hunt down the “random loser” who phoned “from his parents’ basement” and dobbed him in.

Kane Cornes has lashed out at a “loser” caller who dobbed him in for sitting on a flight in business class while his family was in economy.

Despite saying he wasn’t going to overreact, Cornes dished out a rant in his own defence after his trip to Perth was wrongly conveyed on Adelaide’s Triple M breakfast program with Roo, Ditts and Loz.

The SEN and Channel 7 commentator said: “What has the world come to when you can just have a random loser ring up from his parents’ basement and dob someone in for something they haven’t done. I was not in business class, I was in economy.

“So that little wrestling adult fan that’s rung up from his parents’ basement and dobbed in someone on breakfast radio and been a big hero and Roo and Ditts and Lauren have a good laugh at it.

“Then they post this all over their social media, my phone’s blowing up, Hutchy and Picks (Liam Pickering) are talking about it on (Off the Bench) Saturday morning and it’s a genuine lie. And then everyone’s commenting on it. It’s a bit of fun, I’m not going to overreact.”

Cornes then got more fired up as he explained he was sitting further up the plane because it was a full flight and he’d been separated from his family. He said Mark Ricciuto has his number but didn’t attempt to find out the truth.

“So I said to (my wife) Lucy, I’m more up the front than what you are, take my seat and I’ll sit with the boys.

“She said where are you sitting? I said I’m in the aisle, she said no I hate the aisle. I’ve got the window, I’ve got my pillow, it’s a three and a half-hour flight, I want to put my pillow up against the window and sleep.

“What’s next, they can just ... ring up and make up a story about anything.

“Not a text from Roo, nothing. Not a text from the producer, don’t think about clarifying before they post it all over their social media and every idiot is commenting having a crack at me. Happy to show them my boarding pass.”

Cornes said he’s on a mission to uncover the mystery caller.

“What an absolute loser that goes ‘I saw Kane Cornes’,’’ he said.

“He’s taking detailed notes of where the Cornes family is sitting on the plane. Then not only that, four days later he rings up Roo and Ditts on the radio and dobs you in. Like what has the world come to.

“Let’s identify this absolute loser who’s got his notepad out and he’s taking notes of where people are sitting on an airplane and then rings up the radio four days later. Like who is this guy, I’m on a mission to expose him. Like come on. If you know this guy dob him in. What an absolute loser.”
